Montana's motto is "Oro y Plata".

Sand high in quartz content, valuable for glass and silicon. There is no other valuable mineral in sufficient quantities to be of value.

Montana has silver, gold, bentonite, copper and coal. Helena specific has had gold mined here.

Oil.
Water.
Gas.
Gold (but, up in the foothills and mountains).
Silver (ditto).
Molybdenum (ditto).

Mercury.

Mercury. It was used for processing gold found elsewhere. The mercury residue and naturally occuring pollute the local rivers and fish.

Within 50 miles, tungstun, granite and a bit of gold showed up. However, I'm not aware of any in a closer area.

Coal. Minor spots of gold. Some zinc. No uranium I can recall. Sulfur, sure. Lots and lots of iron.
