3M Self-Sealing Pouches

3M-selfsealing-pouch-sm.jpg

These are very sturdy, inexpensive self-laminating folders to make luggage tags, or actually any gear. I wanted to make my own tags from my business cards and these were far and away the best option I found. I’ve now used them for two years of heavy business travel, and they’ve held up really well. We are buying another set, so the kids can make tags for their backpacks and sports bags.

I've actually found these to be more durable than heat laminated luggage tags, I started with these, then bought a laminator for another purpose and tried to make luggage tags with that thinking they would work as well or better. The 3m tags have survived years of abuse (the one on my messenger bag from high school is still going strong) while the heat laminated pouches didn't even survive one plane ride..

Has anybody compared these 3M to the generic self-sealing pouches (such as the ones at Walmart, which -- I believe -- are "Fellowes" brand?) I haven't seen the 3M ones around where I live & was wondering if any will work for uses like this.

These 3M tags are an excellent value. Other tags seem to frequently work themselves loose. So I have made it a habit to bring a few along on business trips.

Nothings says "geek" like being able to offer another conference attendee a new luggage tag to replace one he has lost. I sure as heck don't understand much of what goes on in the technical sessions. But making a tag for a brainiac gets me accepted quickly as someone with a "clue".

If they only knew how clueless I really am!
