I can't recommend a satellite phone rental service. I can recommend that you stay away from Globalstar phones when you are choosing rental units. http://www.globalstarusa.com/en/news/update.php.

I use full color for my professional printing. They have a small Java application for ordering that makes large orders easy. Full color also send a sample paper pack after you sign up so that you can see what kind of papers and finishes they have. Full Color is based out of Texas and I get my prints in about 4 days and I live in Michigan, minimum order is $12.

Saw your call for submissions, and wanted to let you know about the company I have used for wallpaper, blinds and canvases. They also do custom flooring.

They're at http://www.printedspace.com

They've done a ton of high-profile projects, as well as thousands of household items for people like you and me.

They're based in the UK, but I have ordered and taken delivery for items here in California, and I know from their site that they have customers around the world.

I wasn't sure from your call for submissions whether you wanted full reviews, or just pointers to suppliers.

If you'd like a full review, let me know.

Best wishes
Philip

Emergency hand-crank/solar devices should have a DC output in order to charge standard size batteries. Many now have a mini-USB plug for cell phone charging and that can easily be modified to take any number of standard size battery trays, the LL Bean model, for instance.

With a DC output, low voltage DC power is available day or night by sunlight or muscle power. By my count there are over 700,000 solar/dynamo radios in Afghanistan now but none of them have extra battery charging capabiity. US AID will be sending 250,000 solar/dynamo radios to Sudan but, again, none of them will have extra battery charging capability. More at http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/1/234736/1198

Hi folks, regarding the 3D table maps...Just to give you an idea/exampe of the "3D table map" I am asking to Elon to ask you folks about. Looks something like this link:
http://infosthetics.com/archives/2006/03/3d_topographic_map_table.html

I know there are some brick+mortar stores around the world that sells it (i.e. a large travel/books store in Barcelona have some 3D table maps of various European region). Wondering if any one knows of any online sources to order such fascinating 3D maps?

Many thanks in advance.

Warm regards
Ed

Kaufman Field Guide to Insects of North America by Kenn Kaufman is my choice. Kaufman is a noted birder who has applied his skills to the much more difficult field of insects.
