Storus Smart Money Clip

I've been using Storus' simple wallet/money clip for four years now, and highly recommend it. It's just enough wallet to qualify as one, but no more: light, simple, minimalist. The money clip is great, and the other side can hold five credit cards. The cards are wedged in there -- the channel gets narrower as the card slides in. I carry my ID facing out, plus four credit cards. It's a bit tight like that, but it works. As few as one or two cards still works fine, though, and they won’t slide out.

I have used the smart money clip for six years. No more wallet, just the five cards I use all the time, and a little bit of cash if someone doesn’t want to take my MasterCard. It keeps my pockets free, and I have never seen anything else like it.

This product is bulky. Try the Money Clamp - much better design and doesn't rip into your leg.

Five cards...

But I legally HAVE to carry one card (my green card) and I need my Drivers licence if I'm going to drive, and then there is the bank card, and the FSA card both of which get used fairly regularly. That leaves one slot. So which of the other cards should I carry? I have about five other cards that I use once every few weeks. Which of those should I carry?

Nice idea, but a bit limited.

The Money clamp seems to be a bill clamp that can also be sold with a slip wallet that might have a bigger capacity. It's also more expensive (the cheapest I saw with a wallet was $25, the Zurich is $100).

I think I will stick with my hand made leather bi-fold wallet. It holds cash (when I have any) and all of the cards I actually use.

I love the Storus money clip! I carry my drivers license, work ID, ATM card, and two credit cards. Works great for me. If you need to carry more maybe this isn't for you, but for my limited needs this thing is fantastic. The Money Clamp looks too bulky and no different than a regular money clip.

I just slide my credit cards into my regular ol' skinny money clip.

I have a leather version of this w/ a magnetic money clip and slots for about 6-7 cards if you jam em in there. Definitely prefer to carrying around a big ole wallet for sure.

I've had 2 of these - be careful on how many bills you put in the clip, too many will bend the clip out. Also, you can find these on ebay for about half the price of amazon...

I have been using a similar item but made from Lexan that I ordered from Travelsmith. They don't seem to be carrying it at the moment but it is available elsewhere. The advantage over the stainless is weight and it won't trigger metal detectors. The Lexan has held up well and the card retention is excellent.

It's not directly comparable, but I get a similar less-is-more functionality from my Saddleback Leather Small Wallet (http://www.saddlebackleather.com/categories/90-Small-Wallets/products/1710-Leather-Small-Wallet-Dark-Coffee-Brown). It holds some bills and the six cards I need on a daily basis. I especially like the open window for my driver's license - no plastic window. The leather around the edges does conceal some of my license information, but it is easy to use my thumb to slide the license out when needed.

Like others above - I found 5 cards not enough... and didn't like that I had to remove the first 4 to get to the 5th.
After trying quite a few other solutions (including rubber bands!). I settled on this money "clip".
http://www.superiortitanium.com/Viper-Titanium-Money-Clip.html

I put my credit cards inside of my folded up bills - and this has been working real well.

I was surprised that it really did continue to hold a small amount of bills - even after carrying a larger number which I had thought might stretch it out of shape.

It's certainly more expensive, but I have found it worth the price.

Try a simple binder clip.

Minimalist, cheap, replaceable.

I use a think rubber band. I bought a box of 200 for like $3, I can write/draw stuff on them, they are super light, thin, and it doesn't scratch anything. Plus I can wrap it around my iphone and have everything in one place.

Like many of you, I've tried wallets, money clips and rubber bands until I found "my" perfect solution. LiveStrong wrist bands (or a facsimile). Stronger than rubber bands - they last at least a year, inconspicuous, and all credit cards are accessible individually - and the tension remains constant despite different 'loads" - unlike a money clip. Yeah.

I am going on 8 years with my Storus clip. Replaced once due to damaging it myself. In the card portion I have 6 cards (license, ATM, CC, AAA, BevMo, and conf. call info). In the clip portion I keep 5 cards (REI, Costco, Airline, health insurance, and proximity badge). I can securely 'clip' 10 bills with this arrangement. More if I remove my work proximity badge.

I have never had it be detected by a airport metal detector, although it will get picked up by the wands the TSA use.

I love this product.

I've been using this Dopp Front Pocket Wallet for going on 10 years now and love it.

It might not be as minimalistic as others but it holds what i need and is very comfortable to me.

How come the Amazon description says it "stores from 1 to 10 credit cards or ID's"?
I am glad I read the comments because I need to store more than 5 cards.

One alternative to carrying a lot of cards – if you use an iPhone or iPod Touch – is the CardStar app. (There might be similar alternatives for other, non-Apple devices.) It replicates the barcodes on many library, video rental, membership and discount cards so they can be scanned right from the device’s screen. Since I started using it, I’m able to just carry a drivers license, ATM card and a credit card in a small, homemade leather wallet. Everything else is digital.

My money clip is one of those small Gerber one sided pocket knives that has a belt clip. Since the blade is exposed on one side it can come open unless the blade is between the folded bills. I suppose I could put a credit card or two as well but I mainly use mine for bills.

I have one of these, and love it: http://www.dynomighty.com/product_detail.php?d=mighty+wallets+DY-400

Simple, really thin, and well organized. Thinner then any money clip I've seen yet.

What's so bad about carrying a wallet? Ill admit that I carry a lot of cards, but I use them all regularly. Here's what I got in my handmade in Florence, Italy calf leather double bifold: 3 credit cards and a debit/atm card. The credit cards all have different rewards programs so some purchases get more points with a different card. I never have more than $100 cash on me (usually way less than that) I carry my ID and behind that is my insurance cards (that way when a paramedic is looking through my wallet and takes out my ID, oh look theres my insurance card.) In the other bifold I keep my grocery store cards, movie cards, library card, and some restaurant punch cards, beer tour card...

Is it bulky? not at all. But I do like to keep it in my front pocket. In the other pocket is my Blackberry. I mean, what else do you need in your bloody pockets?

No offense to all the rubberband users out there, but come on, that's not very classy at all.

I'm a fan of this type of wallet, but I'd throw my vote for the Slim Clip:

http://www.amazon.com/Slim-Clip-Money-Credit-Holder/dp/B001KH4FPI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1256253102&sr=1-1

$7-10 (a couple of retailers on Amazon)

It's about 9/16" deep, and 3/16" inches longer than a credit card (that's with the credit card in it). The difference is it has clips on both sides, so I found myself carrying 4 cards on the card dedicated side, and 3 on the other (with plenty of room to carry some cash).

If you're a waiter in a restaurant you'd want something more for your singles, but I'm a fan of a few twenties, a ten & a five.

I prefer the front pocket for my wallet, and I bought this so I could go to bars and clubs with something that won't ruin the lines of slimmer pants.

I'd like to see a version of this with a keyring attachment. I've slimmed down enough that I have a few cards, and a couple of keys. Carrying just two keys is great for size reasons, but can be hard to grab in a pocket without a keyfob of some sort--which makes things bigger and stymies your attempts at having small, light pocket items. I've found that attaching the cards to the keys gives me a keyfob that is an item I have to carry anyway. At the moment I use a clear vinyl badge holder, which works reasonably well.

Unfortunately I have my address carried next to my keys, but this is not of massive concern to me.

I've been using this clip for several years. Here's what I found:

It forces me choose the five cards I really need. I found I don't need to carry membership cards. I usually can give my phone number.

The credit card slide holds only standard size cards.

I carry my clip in my front pants pocket. The clip and cards have a hard edge that sometimes will poke my thigh. Since it's hard it will also leave a mark on the outside of my slacks if my briefcase or something rubs against it.

In my back pocket it is very uncomfortable to sit on.

It requires both hands to get cash out which is a challenge if I am holding something.

It doesn't hold one or two bills very well and they come out of the clip in my pocket.

It's real easy to get the top and bottom cards, but I have to slide the top cards to access the other three.

The top card is my ID and very easy to present.

It's not good for carrying business cards.

I can slip a couple receipts under the clip until I get back to the office.

It's definitely not inconspicuous. This was a problem when traveling. It was obvious how much cash I was carrying every time I paid for something. Which is a concern especially in sketchy countries, cities and neighborhoods.

It holds a variety of currency sizes.

I like it mainly because it's slim and prevents me from carrying or collecting unnecessary cards and junk.

Of course, like Kramer, I keep the big bills on top!
