Spice Jar Measuring Spoons

Unlike traditional bowl-shaped measuring spoons resembling those intended for stirring and eating, these stainless steel Spice Jar Measuring Spoons have a common-sense rectangular shape and narrower profile. They fit easily through the typical small opening of a spice container. And if the container opening has a straight edge, you can level it as you withdraw the spoon -- a big plus. The set also contains two extra sizes that aren't normally included with the average measuring spoon set: 1/8 and 3/4 teaspoon. I find the 3/4 spoon particularly handy in that two 3/4 teaspoons equals 1/2 tablespoon, a measurement I frequently encounter after scaling down a recipe. I have been using these sturdy spoons daily for over 3 years, and have found no down-side to using them for all my measuring needs -- liquid or dry. Given their advantage with small containers, I can see little reason to use traditional measuring spoons other than the slightly lower cost.

I bought a set of these several years ago, despite having two cheap sets of measuring spoons already, and never regretted it. They live in my back pocket during the annual Christmas baking marathon; we use these for dry stuff and old round ones for wet stuff. These would make an excellent gift for anyone who cooks regularly.

These are great measuring spoons! Check out Lee Valley's measuring cups, too!

We've had these for several years and they get into any spice jar any time.
We also have a couple of the turtle stools which was the tool of the day a couple of weeks ago. This is getting weird.

We've had a set of these for a while and have been pretty happy with them. I did replace the ball-chain thingy holding them with a standard split ring from a keychain, which I think makes them tidier to hold and easier to hang up on the wall when not in use.

These are great! We've been buying them from Lee Valley for several years and giving them as wedding (and other occasion) presents. Their biggest plus is that they are one solid piece of steel, and have no crevises to hold gunk.
Lee Valley also carries a set of measuring cups that are made the same way--stamped from one piece of stainless. They also, are great. We found them in Monet's Kitchen in Taos, NM several years ago, but Lee Valley also carries them, and for less money.
