Having a reputation as a note-taker, I was given by a co-worker two notebooks made by a Canadian company, Think In Ink, Inc. The 100 substantial pages are 3.5" x 5.5", and alternate between blank and lined (genius!). It's bound with a doubled plastic spiral that allows you to remove pages without ripping, and fits a standard ballpoint pen. There's also a plastic sleeve at the back to store loose bits and papers, and a laminated/plasticky cover that can withstand years of sweaty palmed abuse, or being carried in a back pocket. I brought the second notebook with me to Europe this year, and carried it everywhere. I started to get worried as it filled up. Despite Europe's plentiful stationery offerings, there didn't seem to be a replacement that had all -- or even some -- of the Think In Ink's admirable features.
Efforts to contact the company since I've returned have been fruitless -- the website (pocketthinkinink.com) has expired, and the only phone listing I can find for them goes unanswered. Since the business seems to be shuttered, I'm wondering if Cool Tools' readers could recommend a replacement?

Any decent print shop can run off your choice of pages, cut them to size, and spiral bind them. Perforations for easy tear out are another matter, but there must be someone who can make them. I have considered doing this for some years - the possibilities for customization are amazing - but so far all I have printed are manuals for the software I write and custom pages for my wife to put in her Filofax. Really the availability of pcs and laser printers has put a good print shop in every house and office, all you need to complete it is an industrial paper cutter and a spiral binder. You can also bind in anything you like - fabric, photos, paper money...
A nice addition would be thumb notches - I once saw a thumb notch cutter in a catalogue but have never found another one for sale, and it would be nice if you would add that to your source wanted section.

Don't know if the Molskine(sp?) line of pads has what you're looking for or not but they're durable and long lasting.

Hi Erin...
I found an internet site that is under construction ......thinkininknotebooks.com. The name of the business is Think In Ink, Inc., the exact name as the company that produced your notebook. This is probably the same business making preparations to reopen, maybe with a new owner.
Hope this helps...........Judy
Post Script: The site claims to offer the "the world's best pocket note books " in the business. Does that sound like the notebook you were carrying around in Europe?

It's not quite what you were describing, but try the "ring ring journal" from www.runningrhino.com. It's a bit larger (4.5x6 inches) but it has the alternating lined/blank pages you mentioned.

6 months later and "thinkininknotebooks.com" is still under construction. If it shows up and starts selling, I'll buy a dozen--Erin is right, these notebooks are superb.
