FURminator De-Shedding Tool

furminator-sm.jpg

The FURminator is the only really functional cat-grooming tool I've ever found. The stiff steel rake grabs the undercoat while leaving the topcoat intact. It does a tremendous job of removing loose fur. Be prepared, especially the first time you brush your cat. For my cats, the big difference between the FURminator and regular brushes is that the softer bristles of standard brushes just get hair from the surface -- the topcoat, and a bit of undercoat -- whereas the stiffer teeth of the FURminator primarily snag the undercoat (and lots of it!) as well as loose hairs of the topcoat. The best part is that all that fur goes in the trash, and not on your sofa, bed, or carpet. The environment of my apartment has been improved dramatically, and I no longer need to spend a lot of time vacuuming up cat hair. While the FURminator is expensive for a grooming tool, it's solidly constructed and ergonomically designed, and best of all, it really works. My vet used it on my cats while they were in for a visit. I was shocked at how much hair came off in just a few strokes, so I bought one to take home and have been using it for several months. I then threw out the other standard, cat/slicker brushes I had acquired over the years, and bought two more FURminators to give to cat-owning friends. The one I use is 1.75" and is intended for cats, so although the FURinator comes in larger sizes for dogs, I can really only speak to its utility when it comes to cats.

I can attest to the Furminator's capabilities on a dog. It is amazing! It is expensive but you will use this tool as long as you have pets. In terms of value over time it is a great deal!

I have a shorthaired gray cat and she does not like the Furminator. She ran away after I used on her a little. I got an idea of why she ran when I combed my own arm with with the sharp flat edge. Maybe we're just sensitive. I returned it and came home with lint rollers which she absolutely loves.

Please be advised that on a calico, the Furminator may remove one or two of her smaller spots. This is normal, they will grow back.

This item is really overpriced, but at least it works as advertised. Helps the dog with his thick hair.

I love this product. I have a 14 year old long hair shelter cat that would run everytime I tried to comb her. I bought the brushes, the combs with revolving tynes on them, the matt combs. . Too many to mention. Tried everything with this cat and would end up having to take the to the vet to get clipped and she would have to be put under anestesia to get clipped becasue she didn't take grooming well.
i bought this, as another try, and was totally amazed at the turnaround. She likes me to use it on her. Her coat is more beautiful than it has ever been. She will actually come up wanting me to comb her and she hasn't had one matte in her coat since got it. She is a happier cat and I am a happier mom.
I would recommend this to anyone. I promise, don't even know the company, just love the product.
