Frybrid

In the past five years, a number of companies have started up that offer kits to convert your diesel vehicle to run off of vegetable oil. The main players in the U.S. are Greasecar, Greasel, Neoteric, and Frybrid. Of these companies, Frybrid is the most innovative and quality minded of the lot. Frybrid was the first to introduce a really efficient heat exchanger and a microprocessor controller that will automatically switch to vegetable oil when the system is hot enough and which will not let you forget to switch back to diesel. The components of the Frybrid system were designed to handle the most challenging conditions, so that they could be installed in a Mercedes or a Mack truck. When we converted a school bus (for our traveling circus!) to biodiesel our original Greasecar system had to be largely replaced by a Frybrid one. The Frybrid system was more expensive than the competitors, and seems overbuilt, but it is much better.

[A clarification: This conversion kit is made for using unprocessed straight vegetable oil (SVO; straight as in straight from the kitchen) which requires a separate tank. Most biodiesel is slightly processed vegetable oil, which does not require this kit. You just pump and drive. More on Biodiesel from this Primer] -- KK

Former frybrid customer
I had bought a kit form frybird, but had some major problems due to false problems and major shipping delays. When I finally got the kit, parts were missing and customer service was non-existent. I would reccomded almost any other vendor out there. Dino Fuel Alternatives is the vendor I would go with if I had to do it again. They helped me out when frybrid wouldn't.
Also, it should be noted that the author above, Forest Greg, is an employee and part owner of Frybrid.

Uh, Forest / Kevin - biodiesel and WVO aren't the same. Please edit your link to reflect this. You're doing a dramatic disservice to those of us who run biodiesel by claiming to the general public that you need a $2000 kit to convert a diesel car to run on biodiesel.

Very Very Poor Customer Service
The Frybrid fourm is a great place to get information on Waste Oil Conversions. However the kit is over priced and the customer service is awful. I ordered a kit from chris goodwin from frybrid and after receiving payment in FULL (more than 2400 dollars) he ignored my emails and phone calls for 3 months !! I am still waiting and will be forced to take legal action. So unless you want to get robbed by Chris Goodwin aviod Frybrid ! May I recommend some very reliable companies. Plant Drive, VO Tech, Gloden Fuel, Ect. Please do your reasearch do not think you have to deal with frybrid.
