McMaster-Carr Online Catalog

The best way to describe McMaster is to say that they carry everything you need to build anything. Items that you could normally only order through factory distributors, or materials that could only be ordered in large quantities, are easily available in any size and quantity, no matter how small. (No minimum order, either!) Their prices are excellent and they tend to only carry good merchandise. Amazingly, when I order stuff at 5:30 p.m., it arrives the next morning with their normal shipping. Their catalog has long been difficult to get because you had to be a reasonably sized business with a Dun and Bradstreet number and established credit to have them mail it to you. But now that they have added an online service, everyone can easily order from them with a credit card.

The absolute best - and the online tool is so intuitive and natural it should be the model for all online catalogs. You can drill down in moments to exactly what you're looking for - can't do that with the paper catalog.

Don't waste your time with paper - go directly to their online site, it's the best. Just type "nuts" in the search box, you'll be hooked.

Just ordered a hard to find item from them, price was a little expensive but not bad compared to the time it would take me to find such a thing. Heres waiting for my 1/4"-19 BSPP tap :)

I can't say enough good things about this company, their service, and their online catalog. As a previous reviewer indicated, it is a benchmark for merchants in the category and beyond, and the quality of their products will beat anything the big box stores can offer. Even though they claim to limit catalog mailings, if you order several times (even small orders) over the course of the year, they'll probably mail you one. Nice to have, but the online catalog is really all one needs.

I just tried ordering from McMaster Carr and was told they no longer ship to Canada, is there any other way I can get an order to Canada. Europe, Asia? I would like to start using them, they have many products I could use.
Thanks for the help

I have been purchasing from McMaster Carr for over 30 years. I generally use their website for ordering since I use purchase orders usually. Everything good thing said above is true. (Not being outside the US I'm not familiar with their policy on that however). While the print catalog is ok, it is big, bulky and has to have a place to go. (It's about 7 lbs and going towards 4000 pages on thin paper) The website is updated regularly with stock and pricing which no print catalog can be.
I have found a couple of things about searching. You may need the common trade name used since they generally use that. It pays to read their online guide to materials since it can make a difference in determinng what you need.
Price wise; they are often less and sometimes significantly less than specialty competitors. They have an information rich environment that has saved me countless hours researching a need.
They have several warehouse and distribution centers around the country and the longest I have to wait on ground shipping is 2 days.
