SealSkinz Gloves

I wear them walking in the rain, camp cooking in the rain, chopping mega-weeds in the rain, piloting a boat in the rain (or even just wind), and groping in underwater silt for hours cleaning up debris. The layering is thick enough for warmth but not too thick to affect touch and dexterity. Rubber-like dots on the working surface give traction even on our tugboat's stainless steel "destroyer wheel." It takes a while to rinse dirt out of Sealskinz, but that is their only flaw. Some suppliers have a gauntlett form that reaches almost to the elbow. Price $25 - $30.

Only its the opposite of a wetsuit. They are wet, these are water proof.

Generally I love your reviews and am often very happy with what I find here but these gloves are worthless. What kind of silt and debris are you working on because I work under the ice collecting alga samples and these gloves where worse than bear skin after about 2 minutes in the water. Granted gloves have to be magic to work against 4 degree water for extended periods of time so still searching for magic.

@Adam: Have you found gloves that do work for your ice-water purposes?

"Only its the opposite of a wetsuit. They are wet, these are water proof." That is correct. Wetsuits are supposed to let a small amount of water into the suit, which your body's heat keeps warm. These should more properly be listed as 'drysuit gloves' if you want to be precise. And we geeks always want to be precise.
