Quantifying Now

Gary Wolf

Sprint's commercial tries to sell its 3G network by quantifying "now." Does this mean it's the beginning of a trend, or the end of one?

I agree - the aggregate is not as interesting as the data its made from!

Some form of dashboard is pretty common when monitoring operations of a large data enterprise, be it Google, Visa, or Sprint.

What would be amusing is if the numbers were small, because they related to individuals. When it’s possible to say there are 1 million people across the US engaged in an activity, it doesn’t seem unusual. If they say that there’s one person in the 94143 zip code doing XYZ, then that’s much more…thought-provoking.
