I was unconvinced it would work when I bought the first one, approximately 5 years ago, but it eliminated all lice on the first comb through. It even seems to disrupt the life cycle, killing the eggs on the hair. The instructions with the comb at that time were to comb again after a week, but when we did my daughter's head was clear. Unfortunately the school had one pupil who wasn't treated by her parents, so every few months there was a new outbreak. My daughter has fine blond hair and was the "class canary", so it was in our interests to catch them soon, otherwise we could have been mistaken for the problem. It gave my daughter confidence when we combed her hair and the buzz didn't stop -- clean for another week, especially if the nit nurse was due! She is now at secondary school (age 12) and there doesn't seem to be the same problem, but we keep a comb in the bathroom cupboard and another in the travel bag, just in case.
